Our Community Matters - Buruku

About:
Buruku LGA is one of Benue State’s 23 LGAs. It arose from Gboko LGA in 1989. It has a total population of 203,721 inhabitants (2006 census figures). Tiv are the majority of the population, with Itulo and Nyifon making up the minority.

Goal & Opportunity:
SHIFT conducted an advocacy visit to community chiefs and other stakeholders to gather information about key issues affecting the community. The meeting was attended by 71 community members (including traditional rulers) from across the LGA.

Impact:
The OCM enabled SHIFT to identify some of the key issues affecting the people of Buruku LGA and collaborated with the community  to solve some of the key issues.
