Ready to SHIFT – Buruku

About:
Buruku LGA is one of the 23 LGAs in Benue State. It was formed in 1989 from Gboko LGA. It has a total population of 203,721 people (2006 census figures). Tiv make up the majority of the population, with Itulo and Nyifon making up the minority.

Goal & Opportunity:
SHIFT visited the community to  sensitize community members about health, social and political issues.

Impact:
SHIFT educated members of the community on how to avoid typhoid fever and how to prevent it. They also taught them why they should be concerned about the problems in their community and the importance of working together to solve those problems. They also recognized the importance of voting in elections and methods for electing good leaders to represent them.
