N10m transformation of Primary Health Care Center

About:
Sigau is a predominantly Christian and Muslim community in Kaduna State’s Lere LGA. The Primary Health Care (PHC)center in Sigau was deliplated and in need of renovation when SHIFT visited the community. Members of the community must walk at least ten kilometers to the next community in Unguwa Bawa to access a health care center. This reduces the quality of life in Sigau. A public health emergency has the potential to kill members of the community.

Goal & Opportunity
Members of the Sigau facility and SHIFT collaborated to renovate the Sigau facility and replace existing parts of the facility’s dilapidated structure in order to improve the community’s health care  center and upgrade  performance to its original or better that the former

Impact:
The Sigau facility renovation is one of the most effective ways that the community’s entire population has been impacted, either directly or indirectly. The renovation of the PHC creates a welcoming environment for the facility’s staff, clients, and visitors, resulting in an increase in health care services and a decrease in mortality rates, among other indirect benefits to the school and community.
