Okorogbo

About:
Okorogbo is a Lagos community in the Ajeromi-Ifelodun local government area. The community is plagued by a high level of youth unrest and poverty.

Goal & Opportunity:
The goal of the RTS in the community is to educate the residents on voter education and the importance of obtaining their PVCs.

Impact:
The community members were delighted to be a part of the community engagement. They inquired whether SHIFT is a member of any political party and were relieved to learn that SHIFT is non-partisan. Participants were taught the following topics: What exactly is the point of voting? What drives people to sell their votes? Excellent governance and leadership.

Participants in the community engagement shared their reasons for not voting. According to one of the participants, votes do not count. Another person stated that the PVC registration process takes a long time. To alleviate these concerns, SHIFT is planning a voter registration drive in the community. Residents of the community are anticipating the next SHIFT Nigeria engagements.
