About Ikorodu
Ikorodu is one of the megacities in Lagos located in the northeast part of Lagos, Nigeria. With a population of more than 900,000 people (according to Macrotrends), It is also the fastest growing part of Lagos due to the high influx of people from neighbouring states, towns and villages.
Goal and opportunity
The Ikorodu Health Awareness Outreach aims to give the underserved communities in Ikorodu and its surroundings access to basic and free medical screenings that will help them discover new methods to live a healthy, longer life and improve/manage their health.
Impact
More than 300 people received medical screening and testing through this outreach, including free physical examinations, blood pressure checks, and random blood sugar (RBS) tests. Since there is a high incidence among children, physical exams and deworming checks were performed on them. Where necessary, we also dispensed supplements, drugs, and medicated glasses.
